Sean Emory
Founder & Chief Investment Officer
Sean is the Founder and CIO of Avory, where he leads investment strategy across public and private markets. His focus is on conviction-led portfolios built on data-driven research and durable business models. Sean worked previously as an analyst for Stetson University endowment, analyst at hedge fund KCM Asset Management, analyst and Director of Research at GFG Capital. Sean has been featured at top 50 accounts to follow on X, along with regularly aired on Bloomberg TV (Dubai). Sean attended Stetson University, pre-MBA program at Yale, and is host of Avory Around the Desk Podcast.
Luis Alvarez
Managing Principal & Investment Committee
Luis is a Managing Principal and Investment Committee Member at Avory, with nearly two decades of experience in asset management and banking. He previously served as a Senior Managing Partner at GBS Finance, where he expanded the business into a $2B multi-family office, and as a Director at Deutsche Bank. Luis holds an Executive MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. from Princeton University.
Houston Hess
Director
Houston is the Managing Director and Head of Operations at Avory, overseeing execution and corporate operations. Before Avory, he spent nearly a decade in treasury and banking roles at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America. Houston holds a degree in International Business and Spanish from the University of South Florida.
